NAVIDAD. DIOS INVISIBLE ENTRA EN LA HISTORIA

Cuando los humanos pensamos en Dios o hablamos de Dios, en realidad no estamos ni pensando, ni hablando de Dios en sí mismo, sino que inevitablemente nos referimos a las “representaciones” de Dios que nosotros nos hacemos. Esto entraña un peligro que da miedo pensarlo: los humanos podemos “representarnos a Dios” de manera, que sea “el Dios que nos conviene”. Y esto para odiar, perseguir y matar a todo el que no está de acuerdo con lo que a nosotros nos conviene.

Así las cosas, la Navidad es la celebración del día, del momento, en el que los cristianos recordamos el acontecimiento que, según nuestras creencias, nos indica, nos dice y nos explica la solución que el cristianismo ofrece al problema que acabo de indicar. Y esa solución consiste en que Dios se nos ha dado a conocer en Jesús de Nazaret.

En la Navidad, por tanto, al recordar el nacimiento de Jesúslo que en realidad recordamos es cómo Dios entró en la Historia. O sea, en la Nochebuena, sucediera el día que eso sucediera y ocurriera a la hora que fuera, lo que realmente aconteció es que Dios se dio a conocer a la humanidad. De forma que el niño que nació, Jesús de Nazaret, es la Palabra de Dios, es la respuesta de Dios a las interminables preguntas que los humanos nos hacemos sobre el sentido de la vida, sobre cómo es Dios, lo que es Dios, lo que quiere Dios y lo que Dios espera de nosotros los mortales.

Jesús mismo se lo dijo así a sus amigos más cercanos cuando le dijeron: “Señor, muéstranos al Padre (Dios) y nos basta”. A lo que Jesús contestó: “¿Todavía no me conocéis?” Y añadió: “El que me ve a mí, ve al Padre” (Jn 14, 8-9). O sea, ver a Jesús es ver a Dios, encontrar a Jesús es encontrar a Dios. Y, por tanto, en la vida que llevó Jesús, en sus ideas y en sus convicciones, es donde vemos y aprendemos lo que Dios quiere, lo que a Dios le gusta, y lo que Dios no soporta.

Esto supuesto, no me resisto a poner aquí lo que, de forma tan genial, escribió san Juan de la Cruz en la “Subida del Monte Carmelo”: “Si te tengo ya habladas todas las cosas en mi Palabra, que es mi Hijo, y no tengo otra, ¿qué te puedo yo ahora responder o revelar que sea más que eso? Pon los ojos sólo en él, porque en él te lo tengo dicho todo y revelado, y hallarás en él aún más de lo que pides y deseas” (II, 22).

¿Por qué la Navidad? Porque en ella vemos cómo entró Dios en la Historia, cómo “se despojó de sí mismo, tomando la condición de esclavo, se hizo como uno de tantos… hasta la muerte, y una muerte de cruz” (Fil 2, 7-8).

El evangelio de la Nochebuena nos dice que Jesús nació en un establo, entre basura y animales, en una sociedad (la sociedad del Imperio) en la que era frecuente que los niños se vieran abandonados en los estercoleros. Cuando ahora vemos la ostentación vacía y riqueza amofa de acomodados que se atreven a protestar por giro de humanidad y bondad, que el Papa Francisco le quiere dar a la Iglesia, sin más remedio le viene a uno la pregunta: ¿qué hemos hecho con la Navidad? ¿nos queda algo de lo que realmente fue? Entonces, ¿por qué, para qué y cómo la celebramos? No vendría mal, por lo menos, hacerse la pregunta. El filósofo, el pensador es uno que asombrado inquiere, busca, plantea preguntas, interroga. Otra cosa es encontrar la adecuada respuesta.

Registration

The minimum information we need to register you is your name, email address and a password. We will ask you more questions for different services, including sales promotions. Unless we say otherwise, you have to answer all the registration questions. This also allows us to personalise services for you.
