ESTANCIA EN LA HOSPEDERÍA DEL MONASTERIO DE LAS HUELGAS REALES DE BURGOS

El pasado día 3 de agosto de 2019, sábado por la mañana, me dirigía en mi coche a Burgos para pasar unos días en la hospedería del monasterio de las Huelgas Reales. Había mucho tráfico en la carretera, casi todo en dirección contraria a la mía. Me di cuenta de que era el comienzo de las vacaciones de verano y de que la mayoría de ese tráfico pretendía, seguramente, coger las autovías que conducen a las playas de Cantabria y Asturias, puesto que acogen a mucha gente en verano. También las hospederías de los monasterios están, según mi experiencia, llenas en el mes de agosto.

Quien va a la playa espera encontrar en ella sol, descanso o vida familiar; quienes vamos a un monasterio ¿qué esperamos encontrar? Habría que preguntarle a cada persona y, posiblemente, haya variedad de respuestas y de situaciones.

Creo que podemos estar de acuerdo en que la vida que llevamos ha cambiado mucho en los últimos años. Si echo la vista atrás, desde que era niño o adolescente (años ochenta) hasta ahora, han cambiado muchas cosas y creo que también estaremos de acuerdo en que, en general, ha sido para bien: ahora tenemos un mayor nivel de renta disponible, más coberturas para personas desfavorecidas, la sociedad está más organizada, los trabajos son más llevaderos y las máquinas, de toda clase, nos facilitan bastante las cosas. Si, además, recuerdo las historias que me contaban mis padres sobre la vida que ellos llevaban cuando eran jovencitos (era la posguerra), entonces sí que veo que el cambio ha sido inmenso.

Sin embargo, me pregunto si, en ese progreso, no nos hemos dejado algo atrás… Abundan en estos días muchas actividades del tipo meditaciones, “mindfullness”, viajes exóticos, turismo cultural…etc., pero no parece que sea suficiente para algunas personas. Hay algo mucho más hondo e intangible en la persona que, de una u otra manera, nos reclama atención y que no encontramos en cualquier sitio. A poco que prestemos atención es una voz que se hace más clara y audible.

Siento como un privilegio pasar unos días cerca de la comunidad cisterciense del monasterio de las Huelgas Reales compartiendo espacio y oración. Lo percibo como algo auténtico y diferente, que va más allá de pasar unos días de silencio o de tranquilidad. Es un contacto con algo realmente importante que me ayuda a relativizar cosas y asuntos que habitualmente considero importantes (perdón por la redundancia).

Quiero agradecer a la comunidad su estupenda acogida y estancia en la hospedería, así como la oportunidad que nos dan de vivir unos días en contacto con esa dimensión de trascendencia que siento indispensable para dar pleno y feliz sentido a esta vida.
