HOLGURA

En el Monasterio de Las Huelgas hay belleza. Es una obviedad.

Iglesia, claustros, capillas y jardines, sus obras de arte, sus textiles medievales, sus códices, un conjunto arquitectónico monástico cuyas piedras han contemplado durante más de ochocientos años acontecimientos históricos únicos.

Sin embargo su verdadera belleza escondida reside en las piedras vivas de las almas consagradas a la contemplación en silencio, recogimiento y soledad, gozando de la dulzura del Señor contemplando su templo (Sal 26,4).

Almas limpias, transparentes, irreprochables y sencillas, hijas de Dios sin tacha (Fil 2, 15).

¿Qué es un monasterio sin monjas, sin monjes? Construcción humana perecedera y caduca, hecha por manos humanas en el tiempo, pues por muy inspirada que sea su expresión artística su duración es fugaz, porque esto que contempláis, llegarán días en que no quedará piedra sobre piedra que no sea destruida (Lc 21, 6).

La esencia del cenobio lo conforman las piedras vivas de la comunidad de almas pulcras, que, como piedras vivas, entran en la construcción de una casa espiritual (1Pe, 2,5) entregadas a la alabanza y gloria de Dios, como lumbreras que velan por la humanidad e iluminan los caminos de los hombres, como sal de la tierra y luz del mundo.

Su oficio es divino, su ministerio es sagrado, en silencio no mudo sino elocuente, en quietud no inmóvil sino adorante, en soledad donde sólo una cosa es necesaria, ellas han escogido la parte mejor, y no les será quitada (Lc 10, 42).

Huelgas remite a holganza, al reposo del viajero, al descanso del peregrino, al solaz del caminante, al abandono en las manos de Dios.

El viador, el homo viator, que por alguna razón penetra en la dimensión monacal de Las Huelgas, por la moción del Espíritu que como el viento sopla donde quiere y oyes su ruido, pero no sabes de dónde viene ni adónde va  (Jn 3, 8), deja atrás la vida frenética que a menudo termina endureciendo el corazón haciendo sufrir al espíritu, aparta el cansancio y los agobios para adentrarse en el alivio y la paz del reino, y experimenta cómo el corazón se ensancha, el espíritu se dilata y el alma se serena.

Huelgas alude a holgura, apertura, acogida, donde la estrechez de miras del mundo se transforma en la anchura de la mirada del corazón; mientras que los ojos del mundo miran lo inmediato, la mirada interior ve más allá de lo evidente; lo angosto de la angustia se convierte en amplitud de la conciencia, en visión penetrante de lo inabarcable.

El viador, en ese hito del camino, al detenerse en Las Huelgas, desata sus amarras, suelta sus frenos, rompe sus cadenas, aspira hondo y desborda de gozo, sin hablar, sin pronunciar palabra, sin que resuene su voz, y balbucea, con temor y temblor, Tú que en el aprieto me diste anchura, ten piedad de mí y escucha mi oración (Sal 4, 2).
